# Workshop Design Process
Workshops are smaller than a course and interactive, aimed at hands-on practice for a particular skill, or practical applications of a concept. I like to set my workshops with **intentions**, almost like a [[Brand Positioning]] statement.
1. **Define Intentions**: What are the desired outcomes? Understanding what you want your participants to learn or achieve helps in structuring the content and activities.
* E.g., Participants can take the practice home and practice safely on their own.
* E.g., Participants understand the difference between recognizing something and internalizing it.
2. **Define the Audience**: Tailor your workshop to the needs of your audience. Consider their background, experience level, and what they hope to gain from attending. This ensures the content is relevant and engaging.
3. **Plan Content and Activities**: Based on your intentions and audience analysis, outline the topics to be covered. Break down the content into manageable sections, ensuring there's a logical flow. Incorporate different teaching methods like lectures, interactive sessions, and group discussions to cater to various learning styles.
* Set [[Context Frames]] for various sections of the workshop, ensure that the activities are aligned with the original intention.
4. **Choose the Right Format and Duration**: Decide whether the workshop will be in-person, online, or hybrid. This could range from a few hours to multiple days, depending on the complexity of the content.
5. **Develop Materials**: Prepare all necessary materials, including presentations, handouts, and digital resources. If activities or exercises are part of the workshop, ensure you have all the required tools and materials ready.
